If It Makes You Happy

by Atonia
Dee was so excited she could hardly stand it, something was arriving and Max had gone out to the air strip to meet it. She walked from the empty lounge to the dining room, what would it be; it was worse than Christmas, she thought looking out of the door once again for the van.
“What is it?” she asked running down the steps to meet Max.”
“Crates, rather ingenious of you they match the one we already have; now we have a matching set.”
“Oh Max, is it dining or living room?”
“I have no idea what you ordered, something with chairs.” He smiled catching her hand.
A peek in the large van told her nothing, it was indeed wooden crates.
A half hour later she knew as the crates came off, it was their dining room.
“I’ll have to prepare a nice meal, oh maybe a couple of those steaks you have in the freezer. Oh Max won’t it be wonderful to sit down at a table.”
“I don’t know I’ve gotten used to the kitchen island, I don’t seem to eat as much standing.”
Dee with some help from Max spent the afternoon putting the dining room together.

“It’s awfully big…isn’t it?” he asked walking around the table.
“It fit’s the room besides should we ever have neighbors and friends to dinner.”
“There’s not six people in Port Auckland…hmm rather grand we’ll have to have someone to serve, I could never reach the salt.”
“Maximillian Skinner don’t you say a word I did ask you to help.”
“Hello, I say hello down there enjoying your meal?” he yelled from one end of the table.
Dee came around the table and goosed him in the ribs, he laughed and hugged her to him, “its lovely Dee I’m only having you on, whatever makes you happy love.”
