The New Continent
Emma had not expected her father to say no but neither did she expect him to
give Jason the grilling he obviously thought necessary before handing over his
only child.
A good twenty minutes later a grinning Jason handed the phone to his new fiance.
"Here you go love, your mum wants to talk to you."
Before she had chance to say a word Emma's mother started to cry and it was
another twenty minutes and several handkerchiefs later before the phone
call was concluded with promises to call again soon.
"I need to get them a computer." she sniffed as she looked at the still grinning
Jason, "and you need to get me a drink."
He moved over to the mini bar and made her a G & T. Licking the lime off his
fingers as he delivered it, Jason sat on the edge of the bed.
"So wot's the fuss about, love? You're da is just making sure you don't end up
with a wanker. Suffice it to say, I think he approves."
"So does mum, she just wishes she were here or we were there that's all. So how
long are we staying?" She sipped her drink and looked around, not that it isn't
lovely. You make a mean G&T Mr. had lot's of practice?"
"Yeah, used to make them for my mum for brekkie," he replied. "We can stay as
long as you like but I am anxious to take you back to the Glen, show you around.
My sister's there with Jack too."
Emma was reminded of Jason's strange yet privileged childhood so far removed
from her own, she was anxious to get to his wonderful Glen too, he had waxed
lyrical about it in those many long distance phone calls they had shared when
she was still in London. She was also excited about seeing Bridgid and Jack.
"You know, maybe we could stay for a couple of nights," she said putting down
her drink and putting her head on his shoulder, "we do have a few months to
catch up on."
It felt good to have her back in his arms again. There'd been way too many
lonely nights while they were apart and if he had his way there would be no
more.
"We can go to bed for a week and never get up if you like. We'll have food
delivered from room service and Harry's Cafe de Wheels. You decide, love. I've
got nothing but time, money and affection to give you."
Emma began to laugh. "I think a week might be pushing it even for you. We are
going to have to come up for air now and again. Let's go to Harry's now, please,
I could just eat a meat and potato pie with mushy peas."
He didn't really expect that from her. Let's face it, he was more than a little
primed for a roll in the hay but if that's what she wanted, that's what she'd
get. "I'll get your coat."
"No need, I've changed my mind. Jason, did you really think I'd want to go out
when we just got here? Maybe we can go later, after we've built up a real
appetite." Standing up she kissed the top of his head. "Feel like a long hot
shower?" She asked as she went to find the bathroom."
Would he be any kind of man if he didn't get up to follow her? Of course the
teasing could continue for as long as it did as far as he were concerned.
"No but If you do, I'll watch."
"Oh I see, the rot's set in already." She shouted as she turned on the water.
"You pretend to watch me whilst you watch football on TV. "OK well you should
know that I am now taking off my sandals, followed by my trousers,
followed by my blouse, followed by...." she paused when he didn't appear by the
door. In her underwear she padded into the bedroom. "Ooops forgot my toothbrush,
enjoy the game darling." She smiled as she passed him.
"Game?" he asked as he struggled to pull his shirt over his head. "Is there one
on today?"
Nearly stumbling over his trousers as he tried to get them off quicker than his
momentum permitted he mumbled "I'll just record it to watch later......."
"Emma, what is it with you and sex in the shower? We have a bed the size of
small continent."
"Who said anything about sex? I just got off a plane and I don't exactly
smell...well fresh," she started to giggle, "and for someone who wasn't
interested in taking a shower with me you seem to want to get your clothes off
pretty fast."
She had to admit to herself she had missed this, not the being naked in the
shower although she did miss the being naked with him part but, the bantering,
the teasing, the way he made her feel. Now she was here and they were going to
start a new life together. After they had picked up the old one were they had
left off.
"Who the hell are you and what have you done with Emma?" Jason asked as he
caught up with her. The tiles sure must have felt kind of cold when he pressed
her up against it but his kiss was full of enough heat to counter it. Holding
her firm he dipped his head down to take a bite of her neck just beside the
pulse point. "Yeah, salty, you do need a shower. I'll help and we can talk about
the first thing that comes up between us."
What a smart ass.
It was more than the heat in the shower it was the heat between them. His hands
on her back, massaging her then, his hands between her legs, finding that
spot that he knew so well. As she flung her hands against the tiles and groaned
she felt him enter her. Hard, warm and strong.
She never gave in easy but once she did, her heart and soul was behind it. His
heart and soul was hers from the beginning. Now they would be together forever
by his reckoning. They had a home to go to in a little place called The Glen.
She woke late in the morning arms, legs, bedcovers tangled.
Emma opened her eyes and had to pinch herself to make sure she was there, he was
there. It wasn't a dream anymore it was real and, he was real.
She ran her hand over his bearded face. "I love you Jason," she whispered before
getting out of bed and moving to the bathroom.
He waited until he heard the door close. There was a smile on his face when he
said "Love you too, Emma and I'm going to take you home today."
