Getting the Meeting

This case had already gotten to her in a way she didn't want to admit. Erin Carrick kept repeating to herself....”remember you are a DETECTIVE.” She had to remain professional about the situation. It was the case that got her baby sitting detail with Det. John Cristofuoro. “John...you are either the biggest Pain in the Ass I have ever dealt with or ...” She cut herself off before she could articulate what she was beginning to think.

She picked up the New South Wales police directory to look up the number for the Glen police. “Shit...of course it isn't listed this directory came out before the town was even founded.” The directory promptly found itself deposited in the waste bin beside her desk. Picking up the phone receiver she dialed the switchboard.....”Francine...Carrick here. Can you put me through to the Glen police? “A few seconds later the line was ringing.

John pulled up the cruiser in front of the station. He sat for a moment enjoying the view. This was nothing like his office back in Alaska…apart from being the other side of the world, his new place of work was just…quaint. There was a white picket fence around the small building, a eucalypt in one corner, and grass out front. He sighed contentedly…hed had his ups and downs since arriving, but this was definitely an up time. He smiled as he opened the door.

As he pushed it shut, he thought he heard a phone ringing. Remembering he was the only one on duty, he rushed up the path and threw open the door. He reached his desk thankful that the phone was still ringing, and picked up the handset.

The Glen police, Sheriff Biebe speaking…”

Sheriff? This is Detective Erin Leigh Carrick from the Coffs Harbor Police. I was hoping to be able to schedule an appointment to meet with you. I have a detective from the United States, John Cristofuoro, he is eager to work with your department to solve a case he is working on. He is also the individual who discovered Mrs. Braddock if you are interested in questioning him about that. He has already been questioned by our department, since he is currently attached to us, but since the case involved one of your residents…” she let the sentence trail off. She was beginning to ramble, she knew it.

John looked around his empty office before answering. “Id be happy to meet with both of you. I cant tell you how relieved we all were when we got the news that Ivy was okay. One slight problem though, Im a bit short-handed here right now, Ive got a man off on paternity leave, so I cant really take the time to drive over to Coffs as it would leave no cover here at The Glen. Is there any chance that you could both come out here?”

Erin Leigh breathed a sigh of relief. “I think Detective Cristofuoro was hoping for just that. Let me make a few phone calls and I think we could be there about one….if that works for you? Ok. See you soon Sheriff Biebe…” she hung up the phone while gathering her keys and dialing Cristofuoro on her cell. “John. I just got your meeting in the Glen. Ill pick you up in 5 minutes.”
