Assigned Partner

Explain to me again. Exactly what didn't you understand about my instructions to wait until I contacted the Glen police force?” Detective Erin Leigh Carrick couldn't believe the recent turn of events. Cristofuoro, the Detective from the United States had started off as a nuisance. Now he was a full time babysitting job. “ I am sure you are aware you are now my only assignment, until this mess gets resolved. So consider me your new partner. How do I know you didn't beat that woman...?” Paging through the file on her desk until she found what she was looking for. “Have you ever seen or had any contact Ivy Braddock before?”

Lieutenant Detective John Cristofuoro sat across the desk from Detective Carrick in her office. She had been at this line of questioning for hours. He was tired and more than a little annoyed with her. “If you knew anything about me you would know I would never do that... I was on my way hoping to meet with Bud White, the officer you told me about. I was hoping to get moving on my lead” he replied flatly.

I hope you're proud of yourself. I...” “Actually I am” he interrupted her. “I am glad that I decided to head out the the Glen and decided to stopped where I did. I am glad I found Mrs. Braddock, there wasn't anyone looking for her according to what I've heard. I'm glad I transported her to the hospital and I'm proud that both her and her baby are still here because of it. I didn't want to make things more complicated for you. This has made things more complicated for me too. But I didn't do that to her, I never saw her before and I think we should be working with the Glen police on this one. We aren't solving anything sitting here looking at each other.”

Sitting back in her chair Erin Carrick nodded. “I'll call the Glen Police. You stay put until we head out. Listen this time. Oh and you aren't to go back to the hospital to see the victim until you are officially ruled out as a suspect, and no I don't think you did it. I know about your wife. I read it in the dossier provided by your department.” Looking at the man before her she decided she didn't have him as figured out as she originally thought. But no one who cared for any one as long as he did his wife to the level he did could perpetrate this crime. She would just have to convince the Glen police of the same thing.
