Unexpected News

Terry let out a contented sigh.  He had just made love with a beautiful lady and all was well in his world.  In fact, there was only one thing that would make it perfect.  Bobbie lay beside him, her head on his chest, listening to his heart beating strongly.  Terry stroked her hair and smiled.  He must have done something right to have such a wonderful woman at his side.  He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, a smile still on his face.

Bobbie finished loading the laundry into the machine and walked back into the kitchen.  She loved this time of the morning, the Italian floor tiles were still cool on her bare feet, and the south-facing aspect of this side of the house meant that even later in the day, the kitchen would still be a place to stay cool in.

Terry was doing laps in the pool.  Bobbie decided to get a start on lunch and was preparing a marinade for the lamb steaks when Terry's cell phone rang.  Wiping her hands, Bobbie picked up the phone.  "Terry Thorne's phone."

"Who are you, the home help? Earn your wages, honey and get Mr. Thorne."

Home help?  Who the hell was this idiot anyway.  She took the phone out to the pool.  Terry was sitting on the edge with his feet still in the water.  He saw the look on Bobbie's face.

"What's up, Luv?"

"Some hoon wants to talk to you.  He thinks I'm the home help."

Terry could see Bobbie was getting angry and held out his hand for the phone, holding on to her and kissing her wrist before speaking.  "Thorne...what the fuck you think you're doing calling my beloved the home help, mate? Yeah, you heard me right.  No, mate, you can do that yourself.  See ya."

"Who was he?" Bobbie asked.

Terry got up and wrapped his arm around her waist.  "That, my Luv, was my business partner."

"Does he always jump to conclusions like that?"

"No, darling, I guess we can put it down to jet lag."

Bobbie frowned.  "Where is he, Terry?"

"Brisbane.  He'll be at Coffs this arvo.  Looks like we have a surprise guest.  I promise you'll like him, he's getting his apology speech written on the flight down."

Bobbie laughed as they walked back into the kitchen together.  Getting more lamb from the fridge to marinade, she set to making sandwiches for them both, the lamb would do for dinner when their guest arrived.
