Busyiness

Nonnie had been to lunch with Richie over at Andy’s. He’d told her a little about the Rosemary vs. Dom case.

“I can’t imagine why you’d even consider representing her, she’s abandoned her child and is obviously missing the top floor in her brain.”

“Ah, she’s a kid that needs some help.”

“What is she going to pay you with she couldn’t possibly be making enough money working at a coffee shop to hire you…oh wait I don’t think I want to know.”

“Hey, cut me a little slack here, she can pay in monthly installments…cash, Nonnie.”

“Right, well I wouldn’t touch it myself, she can’t possibly win custody.”

“I don’t think so either but I hope the judge will order some kind of treatment for her, she needs it.”

“She’s still in jail?”

‘”Yeah, I’m gonna get her out though, get some of the charges dropped. It’s a complicated situation and I hope we get a good judge to go before and he’ll set bail.”

“I guess it takes all kinds…well hello Wuss, have you been guarding the store?” Nonnie reached down and scratched his ears. “Come in for awhile?”

“I need to get to Coffs…see you tonight?”

“Hmm, my place or yours?”

“You don’t have a place,” he pulled her up close and grinned.

“I will soon.”

Richie kissed her, “Sixish…be there,” he gave her a pat on the bottom.

“Miss Scott…I’ve had someone in my shop asking where you were, you can’t go off leaving your store unattended like that I don’t have time to take care of your customers too.” Mr. Jessup pursed his lips.

“Well, as busy as you are Mr. Jessup I can quite understand that, anyone been in today?” Nonnie smiled and gave Richie a wave and went into her shop.

Richie chuckled and shook his head as Mr. Jessup got himself up and went back around the corner to his shop.
